Synopsis
Voted word of the year in 2016, "Post-Truth" feeds on fake news, the exacerbation of fears, the lack of time to check facts, social indifference and the absence of information literacy, spreading unchecked with the Internet and social networks. In the hyper-consumer society, the power of algorithms is ever greater. The new technologies are opaque and facilitate manipulation. How do we deal with this cascade of unfiltered information that is constantly falling on us? Do we really need news by the minute, do we really need to be connected all the time? How can we not go crazy in this information and digital chaos?
Every year, Oxford Dictionaries chooses a word to dominate conversations around the world. In 2016, the word chosen was "Post-Truth", because its use grew by 2,000 percent in the year of Brexit and the election of Donald Trump.
